The year is 2023, and the world isn't too far off of what we know it as. One thing that has come to be, is the foundation that all these years there have been people living among us that aren't what they seem to be. We call these people the Flux. Approximately one eighth of the population is "the flux", who are seemingly human with the exception of the powers they are capable of. Now that they are found out, the government wants to contain them, so to speak, to be sure that the humans are not in threat from these mutants. The only problem is, they have existed years before their realization in 2019, and since then have tried to live a normal life, and create a family. The mating between the humans and the flux have resulted in another "half-breed" sort of person that is referred to as the Fuse. They too have powers significantly less than the Flux but are never thought of as threatening. Humans still make up the majority of the population but are consistently checked to see if they are affected by the Flux. It is still unknown how this mutation came to be and how it has created so many variations within many people. Internationally, this is recognized, but these are the stories of those living on Whidbey Island, Washington.
